“Monique” Pollyanna Monica Ryan
December 18, 1935 – March 20, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pollyanna Monica Ryan, more commonly known as Monique at the Royal Alexandra Hospital on the morning of Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the age of 85 years.
Monique left St. Vincent in 1962 for Trinidad where she established a seamstress shop. She moved to Toronto in 1969, then promptly left for Boston where she resided until 1975 when she moved back to Montreal, Canada to raise her young child. While in Montreal she worked at the Villa Mount Royal until she again relocated to Calgary, Alberta Canada in 1979. There, she worked at the Bethany Care Center and met and befriended a wonderful group of women that she held dear and communicated with up to her last days. In Calgary she served as an elder at the Forest Heights Seventh Day Adventist church then again at the Bridgeland Church. In the year 2000, she relocated to Whitecourt where she served as Head Elder and Founding member of the Whitecourt Seventh Day Adventist church, which was first held in her home in 2002.
Monique was always ready to speak her mind and share her opinions. She was full of wisdom, and faith and was a Prayer Warrior. Monique loved to dress and carried herself with dignity and poise. She loved God, her family, and her friends. She provided solid advice to so many and even now, they are still reaping the benefits. She will be missed and yet knowing that she is resting peacefully till the Lord appears gives us all hope and an aim.
Monique will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lois Ryan-Ottley; her son-in-law, Patrick Ottley; grandchildren, Samuel Ottley, Micah Ottley, Morey Ryan and Fayliesha Ryan; siblings, Sevanson Sylvester, Jocelyn Nelson, Clara Toney, Marjorie Bandele, Cecil Ryan, Elma Lee, Judy Regisford, Arthur Ryan, Margaret Hackett, Adina Ryan, Allan Ryan, Lydia Francis and Randolph Ryan; extended family to include Valerie, Thelma, Pearlin, Angela, Steve, Petra and Hyron, as well as by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, former co-workers and a host of friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, Daisy Agatha France and Digby Ryan; siblings, Brenda France, Sarah Ryan and Arnold Ryan.
